In Brussels, Tram'nesty circulates on behalf of freedom of expression over the Internet

Monday, 08 September 2014 15:57
On Monday morning, after the campaign in Ghent this summer,Amnesty Belgium launched, "Tram'nesty" an array of colors with the slogan "Freedom of expression is not for everyone " at the Belgian courthouse. It will run on lines 92, 93, 94 and 25 until October 6th

Then its followers will experience censorship on their smartphone. Web access will be denied and a pop-up will appear which will read "You can not express yourself over the Internet at this time. For millions of people around the world, this happens every day." Travelers can then support freedom of expression on social media using the hashtag #tramnesty.
Philippe Hensmans, director of Amnesty Belgium, denounced the lack of democratic control over the current measures regarding   Internet surveillance. "First specific individuals were targeted: according to   Reporters Without Borders, 71 journalists were killed last year, blogger Raef Badawi was sentenced in Saudi Arabia. The second strategy is to control all movements. Blasphemous tweets are prohibited in Pakistan. Extensive measures have been taken and laws have been voted on in England and in France. In China, 2 million people monitor the internet on behalf of the government. Computer scientist Edward Snowden took the risk of going to jail for informing the public of the mass control deployed by the NSA in over 190 countries. "
