Wednesday, 10 September 2014 00:57
On Tuesday morning, a commemorative plaque  paying tribute to the four people who lost their lives during the  May 24th attack was placed on the front of the Jewish Museum.
The cultural institution officially reopens Sunday, September 14th with increased security measures said Philippe Blondin, president of the museum, during a press conference. At the request of the judge in charge of investigating the attack, the entrance and lobby of the building will not be changed until the reconstruction has taken place.
"As of Sunday, police will be present at the gates. Moreover, a metal detector will be installed and practiced agents will search all visitors," Mr. Blondin explained.
Once the reconstruction has been completed, a secure airlock entry with bulletproof glass and a removable portico will be installed.  Monday, the City Council of Brussels approved a grant of 30,000 euros to secure the Museum.
The new architectural project, decided upon before the attack will begin in 2015 and will also take into account the strengthening of security measures.
